About "Paterchurch Publications" |
| "Paterchurch Publications" is the imprint of Pembroke Dock-based aviation writer and historian John Evans.
A journalist by profession, John has dedicated much of his time over more than 25 years to researching flying-boat history and the squadrons which were based between 1931 and 1957 at the RAF Station located in his home town. Between 1985 and 1995 John was the principal organiser of the five Pembroke Dock Flying-Boat Reunions which brought together hundreds of ‘Webfooters’ from all over the world. A great number of these contacts have contributed to John’s publications, and he has drawn extensively upon private collections, previously unpublished, for his titles. John welcomes contacts with anyone who has any connection with flying-boats or with ‘PD’ - as the Pembroke Dock Station was known among the flying-boat fraternity. ‘Paterchurch’ is the original name for the area upon which the town of Pembroke Dock began to be established in 1814, alongside the Royal Dockyard where over 260 ships were built for the Royal Navy. The town now has its own Museum, located in a Victorian gun tower. The Museum reflects the connection between the town and all three Armed Services and includes a ‘RAF Room’ where items from John’s collection, and stories about PD and its flying-boats, are among the displays. |
